The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests, and abilities. This free Club is offered at more than 2,000 public libraries across Canada. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to explore the fun of reading. This is key to building a lifelong love of reading.

This year’s Summer Reading Club (SRC) encourages kids to discover more in their library, their community, and their world!

  • Visit your RWLibrary Branch to sign up for the Summer Reading Club, starting on June 19th. We will give you some materials to get you started on your summer reading adventure!
  • Spend time reading to earn ballots for end of the summer prize draws. 30 minutes spent reading earns one draw ballot.
  • Borrow materials from your RWLibrary Branch to earn more ballots! You can earn one ballot per day by checking out items.
  • Enjoy special programs that will help you check out something interesting in your community including a trip to a beekeeper, the fire station, Castle Kilbride, Emergency Services, Waste Management, and more! See our full list of programs and events happening at your local RWL Branch using our online Events Calendar
  • Collect cards and meet the mascot at each of RWL’s locations. Can you collect all 12 cards?

When does the Summer Reading Club start?

You can sign up beginning on June 19, 2023 and then start reading for SRC on July 1.

How do I earn ballots for the draws?
You can earn one ballot for every 30 minutes that you spend reading and one ballot per day for checking out items. You also earn one ballot just by registering for the SRC!
What could I win?
Each branch will have draws for a few different gift baskets and an experience prize. You choose which one you would most like to win and put your ballot into that ballot box.
I’m going to be away for part of the summer. Can I still participate?
Yes! You can keep track of your reading while you are away and report back to us when you get home.
My grandchildren are visiting for a week. Can they participate in the Summer Reading Club?
Yes! Bring your grandchildren to the library and we will sign them up! They are also welcome to register for any of our programs.
Do I need a library card to join the Summer Reading Club?
No, you don’t need a library card to join the club, but getting a library card is free and easy and you need one to borrow items.
How do I collect cards?
Visit your RWL branch and we will explain it to you!
