Self-Published Authors
Region of Waterloo Library (RWL) works hard to maintain a well-balanced and broad collection of materials. RWL considers submissions from self-published authors, particularly local authors from Waterloo Region, for purchase and addition to the Library’s collection.
Preference is given when:
- The work has been reviewed in a professional and objective review source (e.g. Publishers Weekly, Booklist, Library Journal, or Quill & Quire) or has received media attention.
- The work is of significant local interest, with a subject related to communities within Waterloo Region or more broadly, Ontario.
- The work is available from one of our book/media vendors.
Inclusion of the work in our collection is subject to the General Collection Priorities as stated in our Materials Selection Policy
The library does not order directly from websites or pay in advance for material. If you would like to sell your book to the library, please make your book available through a library wholesaler, or be prepared to complete a direct deposit form, send an invoice and wait a few weeks for payment.
Please do not send a sample of your book. We cannot accept review copies or notify you if your book is not selected. Any sample copies of the work sent to the library become the property of the library, and will not be returned to the creator.
Promotional materials or questions can be directed to the Coordinator, Library Collections. Contact information can be found on our Contact Us page.
