Mobile Hotspot Terms of Use
Mobile Hotspots provide Internet access to Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, tablets and PCs through the Bell Canada cellular network. Before placing a one-week loan, or if you prefer, we also offer placing a three-week loan on a mobile hotspot, please read our Internet Use Agreement and our Terms and Conditions (outlined below).

Terms and Conditions
Eligibility: Patrons must be 16 years of age or older with a valid library card.
Loan Period: Mobile Hotspots may be checked out for one or three weeks. No renewals are allowed on hotspots.
Holds: Patrons may place holds on mobile Hotspots. Holds must be picked up within 1 week of notification, at the circulation desk.
Replacement Cost: If the Hotspot and/or accessories is lost or damaged, replacement cost will be $600.
Service Coverage: Service is available within Canada, on Bell Canada’s cellular network.
Using a Hotspot: Our hotspots are Cradlepoint Routers provided by CDW Canada. Hotspots must be plugged in to a wall socket while in use. Reception can be improved by adjusting the Wi-Fi antenna and paddles. For more information, please refer to the “Get Started” guide included with the mobile Hotspot.
The Mobile Hotspot can provide Wi-Fi Internet access for up to 20 devices.
Returning a Hotspot: Mobile Hotspots must be returned to the circulation desk at any Region of Waterloo Library location during open hours. Library staff will visually inspect the Hotspots at check-in. Patrons are responsible for any loss or damages that happen during their lending period.
Care of Device: Mobile Hotspots should be kept at room temperature. Please don’t leave them outside or in a car.
