Region of Waterloo Library: COVID-19 Red Zone

COVID-19 Social Distancing Effective Feb. 22, 2021 – in accordance with the latest release of the province's Red Zone COVID-19 framework, we are pleased to offer the following services:
We are now open for limited indoor visits to pick up your holds, where permitted at those branches which can accommodate it.
We continue to offer our  Library Takeout  service, which allows contactless pick up of your requested items by appointment.

Borrow the Internet at Region of Waterloo Library

Beginning October 17th, Region of Waterloo Library (RWL) cardholders can borrow hotspots that give access to the Internet anywhere in Canada.
These wireless devices, called “hotspots”, enable users to connect laptops and other electronic devices to the Internet.  Hotspots will be available at any RWL service location, and any adult cardholder may borrow one.

Fake Library Emails - Beware

Some library members have reported receiving suspicious looking emails, which appear to be coming from the Region of Waterloo Library. In many cases, these emails suggest the library member has an overdue bill or outstanding balance. They may include subject lines like "Overdue Payment" or "Late Payment" and appear to be sent from a library email address (e.g. ayrlib@regionofwaterloo.ca). The New Hamburg Branch celebrates 100 years, 1915 - 2015

September 10, 2015   The New Hamburg Library was originally organized as a Mechanics' Institute in 1881. Mechanics' Institutes were library systems that received funds through paid memberships, government grants, and the proceeds from public lectures. At that time, it was housed at the west end of the Imperial Hotel building on East and West Street (Huron Street).
